Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an auspice of the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) ), an initiative funded by the Australian Government. CVS Volunteers visit residents in Aged Care homes in NSW & VIC either one-to-one or as a group. In some areas, CVS volunteers may visit older people in their own home. Volunteers provide companionship and friendship and reduce the effects of isolation. Volunteer visitors may share stories, go for a stroll, listen to music or play a game. As a CVS volunteer you play a vital role in improving the quality of life of the person through ongoing companionship. Skills required Warmth, a caring attitude, empathy, good English communication skills however volunteers with other languages willing to be matched to same language very welcome. Reliability and a willingness to commit to at least fortnightly visits for a minimum of 12 months is important. A VERY REWARDING ROLE!
