We are looking for kind, committed and positive people. to join our team of 1:1 social support volunteers. This program is designed to support older people and adults that are at risk of social isolation to reconnect with their community and the things they love to do.

Vera*might be a little shy to start with but once you get to know her you will discover her great sense of humour and her warm and friendly personality. She enjoys gardening, sewing, embroidering, watching TV, especially Australian soaps, and her much-loved cat.

Vera is looking for someone with similar likes to share stories and a chat. Initially she would like someone to visit her at home and progress to going out for coffee or lunch, visiting the shops or going for a walk. The ability to help Vera* learn how to use her IPAD would be a bonus.

This volunteer will need to be thoughtful and patient with some insight into short term memory loss. Ideally you will be available once per week in the afternoon on any weekday, have a valid license and access to a car. You will use your skills to provide companionship, and support Vera*.

Practical communication skills and confidence to work independently are a must. As a valued member of the Social Support team you will have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, meet new people and develop new skills. You will have support from a dedicated volunteer coordinator who we assist you throughout your volunteer journey.
