Duties:

• Assist staff in setting up activities in preparation for the day as directed
• Assist staff in staff in preparing and distributing morning or afternoon tea and lunch to residents
• Support staff and encourage residents to participate in activities
• Accompany residents to washroom and advise staff if assistance to use the washroom is advised
• Accompany residents to walk in the Nursing home garden as directed
• Visit with residents in their room

• A Genuine empathy and understanding of older people
• Good communication and listening skills
• Patient with older people
• Ability to relate well to residents and other staff
• Ability to work as a part of a team
• Ability to support staff and follow directions
• Understanding of the importance of promoting independence and self-esteem with individual residents
