Wollongong Unit Commander - NSW SES

NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is the lead agency in response to flood, storm and tsunami emergencies. It also provides critical rescue and missing persons search capabilities to other agencies. The organisation is made up almost entirely of volunteers who commit to supporting their community in its time of need.

NSW SES Unit Commanders manage teams of volunteers during the recruitment, training and workforce maintenance phases of the volunteer lifecycle. They also ensure smooth running of a facility and the agency's fleet (road and marine) within their area. The Wollongong unit sits within the Northern Illawarra Cluster, reporting to the Local Commander.

This role is assisted by a four Deputy Unit Commanders, with the support of a wider senior officer cohort. The unit is supported by a small staff contingent tasked with supporting volunteer Units across south eastern NSW.
