General Board Member
Georgina Martina Inc (GMI) is a not for profit community-based organisation providing support and emergency accommodation for women, children and gender diverse people experiencing family violence. Georgina Martina Inc operates high security refuges and family violence services. Our service delivery model focuses on holistic support for women, children and gender diverse people impacted by domestic and family violence, mental health and substance abuse. We do this by providing: ● Crisis and medium-term accommodation ● Culturally sensitive support; and ● Assistance with accessing services. Our services support people: ● from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds ● of all ages, including the elder community and children and young people up to 18 ● with or without children ● with mental health issues ● with substance abuse issues ● who have difficulties in gaining access to mainstream services, such as those without permanent residency GMI is currently seeking applications for new board members. We are seeking a board where members will complement each other’s skill set. We welcome applications from those with human resource management experience, change management experience and/or any of the following skills (these are not prerequisites or limited): • knowledge/understanding of issues affecting those experiencing family violence • an understanding of Governance and/or previous Board experience • financial management (including property management and investment) • strategic and business planning • knowledge of risk management including occupational health and safety • knowledge of legislative compliance for not-for-profit organisations • experience working with culturally diverse communities • leadership experience • marketing experience People from culturally diverse, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, LGBTQI backgrounds and those who identify as having a disability are actively encouraged to apply. Attendance at Board meetings held approximately every six weeks on a Wednesday evening, in the inner north metropolitan area of Melbourne (currently within the City of Darebin) and via Zoom. Be able to commit to a minimum of 12 months (noting this is an ongoing position). Must be over the age of 18 and identify as a woman or gender diverse.
