Urgent! Become a friend to a lonely man living in Cleveland by playing board games together!

Wynnum Baptist Community Visitors Scheme t/as ACVVS Wynnum

As a Community Visitor you will visit our male resident at the Aged Care home in Cleveland. Regular fortnightly visits provide the resident with valuable friendship. During your visits you can have a chat whilst playing a board game. Our gentleman enjoys playing board games, particularly Draughts and would love to be taught how to play Chess too. Though, the ability to play Chess is not an essential requirement for this role.

Through this regular one-to-one visiting great friendships can be formed. These visits from a Community Visitor can help to improve the quality of life of the older person and help them to feel less socially isolated.

Volunteering as a Community Visitor can be a very rewarding experience. By becoming a friend to an older person, you can make a positive difference to their lives as well as your own.

  • An important note - a requirement issued by the Federal Government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, is that ALL visitors to aged care facilities in Australia as at 17 December 2021, must be double COVID-19 vaccinated, with proof to be supplied. In addition during the Australian Influenza season (typically April to October), visitors must have a seasonal Flu Vaccination with evidence to be provided.
You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
