Better Drive Study Volunteers - Randwick - #165421
NeuRA (Neuroscience Research Australia)The Better Drive Study is a world-first randomised clinical trial that is investigating which methods of driver education can best improve the driving skills and safety in older drivers 65+. This study is being led by Professor Kaarin Anstey in collaboration with other researchers at NeuRA, UNSW and internationally.
Volunteers will be required to make a commitment for the full 12 months of the study.
We are looking for volunteers who are:
- aged 65 years or older
- hold a current full driver’s license and willing to provide the driver’s licence number, expiry date and conditions to the research team.
- drive a vehicle that has at least third-party insurance and willing to show the certificate for verification
- intend to continue driving for at least the next 12 months
- able to comfortably converse and read in English
- have not completed an older driver refresher course in the last 5 years.
Volunteers will be asked to complete a questionnaire on general health and wellbeing, tests of vision and cognition, and an on-road driving test with a qualified Driver Trained Occupational Therapist and Driving Instructor.
Due to COVID we have implemented several safety procedures in preparation for your visit. This includes disinfecting all shared surfaces and equipment before and after your arrival. NeuRA personnel will also be wearing a mask during your visit. Since we are a health facility we also ask that you sign in at reception when you do visit us
