As a mentor you will be matched with a small group of students undertaking Vocational Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) While a trade background is ideal, it is your experience in the workforce combined with your enthusiasm and desire to help students explore and make informed decisions to be better prepared for the workforce that will make you a good mentor.

Through guiding students through activities and engaging in discussion, mentors and mentees will come together in a group once per week for 8-10 weeks starting in late April for approximately 2 hours per week. As a mentor your focus will be to inspire by sharing your work history. Help them form a realistic picture of the workforce and their chosen career; refine resumes, job search, networking and interview tips.

The class will be run by the teacher and the students will be responsible for the work that needs to be completed. Session will be in person, however, sessions may move to being on-line if required due to Co-vid.
