Volunteer Coordinator

This role would suit someone who has a good understanding of word, excel and emails but we offer training in the use of online volunteer recruitment tools.
You will be liaising with not only the Executive Officer but other friendly and supportive team members including Marketing who will support you to advertise and recruit. We want to promote a safe, fun and collaborative working environment for all our volunteers and make sure they are recognised, rewarded and have access to all the documentation and information they need. You will be a conduit between volunteers and the broader event team.
We are especially interested to hear from anyone who is keen to help us with our continuous improvement in the areas of volunteer management policy and planning.
The Avon Descent welcomes applications from diverse people including all ages, religions, cultures, genders and abilities.
Access to a computer (preferably laptop) for emails and communications is necessary.
The ideal candidate will: • Be friendly, approachable, patient, understanding and aware of the rewarding and challenging nature of working with volunteers • Have some experience working as or alongside volunteers in the past • Have a driver's license for attendance of meetings
About the Avon Descent
The Avon Descent is one of Western Australia’s longest runningand most beloved sporting and community events attracting local, national and international competitors to compete in a series of powercraft and paddling races on the Avon and Swan rivers alongside a host of free community festivals. We have a long and intimate history with volunteering with over 99% of its organising teams consisting of volunteers. Over its 49 year history, Northam’s Avon Descent association has engaged thousands of volunteers and hundreds of different volunteer groups to deliver our events.
