Evening Community Meal Service Volunteer
We need volunteers to assist with our Tuesday evening meal service at Lalor Park, assisting people experiencing social disadvantage in our local community.
The people we serve may be experiencing homelessness, the effects of poverty, drug and alcohol issues, single-parent families, loneliness and social isolation or just struggling to make ends meet.
We need volunteers who would like to join our amazing team of dedicated volunteers to manage the growing numbers attending and workload (many hands make light work!)
You would be allocated to a team and each team is rostered to come along once every 4 weeks. Also, occasionally, other opportunities, such as Bunnings BBQs or tinned food collections.
We need volunteers to assist in unpacking the van and truck, setting up the community hall for meal service ( tables/ chairs etc) packing hampers, serving meals and drinks, cleaning and packing away and general duties required to deliver an evening meal service
You do not require any particular skills to be a volunteer with Carevan Blacktown.
We set up the community hall, carry boxes of food in and out of the van, make up hampers, prepare and serve meals, sort donated food and clothing to distribute to those in need.. tasks vary and we are always open to help in any or all aspects but we are particularly in need of hands-on help with the Tuesday evening service.
You do need to be over 18yrs of age, have a smile, a willing heart and a few hours spare a month and we would LOVE to meet you and have you join the Carevan Blacktown family.
