The playgroup coordinator will be an organised, punctual, sociable, kind and generous person who is willing to volunteer their time for parents and children in the local area. The coordinator will need experience with children under five years old in a playgroup situation, either with their own children or with others'. A background in teaching, nursing, childcare, community work or healthcare would be an advantage, but not essential. Assistant volunteers can help set up the area before the parents arrive and help to pack up, with the coordinator assisting in morning or afternoon tea. Reaching out to new parents as well as those who may be socially isolated and providing referrals to other services would be part of helping to support parents in the local community.
