The Horsham Salvation Army Thrift Store has an important role in raising much needed funds to enable The Salvation Army to serve the needs of the local community, whilst providing an environment where customers and volunteers alike are treated with the dignity and respect reflected in the values and mission of The Salvation Army.

The Electrical Test and Tagger role is responsible for carrying out tests on and inspecting electrical goods to ensure they are functioning and safe for customers to purchase. We are seeking expressions of interest for a person with the skills and testing equipment to be able to perform this essential task.

A Typical Day Will See You:

  • Inspecting, testing and tagging electrical items to current Australian AS/NZ Standards, including safely testing items with a Portable Appliance Tester (which will be provided) and following procedure with items to be repaired or disposed of if deemed unusable.
  • Record results of testing.
  • Adhering to Health and Safety of self and others is vital and training in  Salvation Army Standards will be provided.
  • Regularly monitor store stock and ensure all items are inspected, tested and tagged as per TSA WHS Safety Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment Procedure.
  • Visually inspect appliances for damage as per training and set out in AS/NZS 3760.
  • Ensure that equipment has not been recalled, is validated for use in Australia and fitted with plug complying with AS/NZS 3112.
  • Operate in a safe manner at all times and instruct all team members including TSA employees and visiting contractors, follow WHS policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements for the Role

  • Test and Tag qualifications from a Registered Training Organisation; or
  • Have an electrical or restricted electrical licence; or
  • Have a willingness to be trained to test and tag. Costs covered by The Salvation Army.

Mandatory Requirements of the Role

  • Complete the TSA mission volunteer induction, training and registration process
