Volunteer Patient Transport Convenor - Wangaratta

Australian Red Cross

Logo for Australian Red Cross
  • Time frame: ongoing
  • Time involved: Weekdays - up to 3 hours per day

The program

The Red Cross Patient Transport Service provides transport for eligible persons to "essential" hospital and/or specialist appointments for people that have no other means of transportation. The service is extremely important and closes a significant gap, particularly for people who are isolated and unable to afford or use mainstream options.

The opportunity

The Patient Transport Convenor is the person who receives the referrals, supports the drivers and brings the two together to see people transported to and from appointments. Co-convening provides opportunities to share the role and make the most of particular strengths and opportunities for learning and applying skills. There are administration, coordination and logistics involved and there is never a dull day.

The impact

As a Volunteer Patient Transport Convenor, you will help improve the quality of life and well-being of people who are elderly, are unwell or have disability, by connecting them with services in their local community.

Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
