Childhood Cancer Support provides 17 units for regional families whose children are diagnosed with cancer and they need to reside in Brisbane, close to the Queensland Children's Hospital, so their child can receive oncology treatment.

We require the professional services of volunteers for the following -

• Do stocktake/inventory of our accommodation units (kitchen utensils, crockery, cooking utensils etc, bathroom, linen such as sheets, blankets, pillows etc)
• Advise if linen, toasters, kettle or kitchen and cooking utensils or crockery need to be replaced
• Clean/wipe out drawers in kitchen including pantry, bathroom and bedrooms
• Clean all kitchen cutlery, crockery, pots and pans (either by hand or put through the dishwasher)
• Dress unit - make up beds, arranging towels in bathroom and kitchen to look presentable and inviting for when a new family move into our accommodation.

Part of the overall task in preparing the unit for a new family is dressing the unit to ensure it looks inviting and presentable for the new family. As you can imagine, when a child is diagnosed with cancer, the family are very stressed and distraught, and they need to arrive into Brisbane at a moment's notice to commence oncology treatment for their child. To walk into a fully furnished unit which is clean, homely and inviting for the family is a very important aspect of what we do at Childhood Cancer Support.

We have professional cleaners that will come in and do the rest of the cleaning, however, we urgently need volunteers who have attention to detail, are good at stocktaking (we will provide necessary inventory forms) and will put their homely touches to the unit to prepare it for the next family to move in.
