ASCA NATIONAL PRESIDENT
Responsibilities
Board Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director to set organizational priorities, approve key policies, and ensure the alignment of all activities with the organization’s mission.
**Governance Oversight: ** Provide strong leadership and governance, ensuring the organization is complying with legal and ethical standards, and maintain high levels of transparency and accountability to stakeholders.
** Executive Management**: Supervise senior management staff and ensure the effective implementation of programs and services that align with the organization’s health-related mission and objectives.
Resource Allocation: Oversee the efficient use of resources, including finances, human capital, and partnerships, to achieve organizational goals.
Risk Management: Identify organizational risks (e.g., financial, reputational, operational) and work with the leadership team to mitigate those risks through appropriate strategies and controls.
Financial Oversight: Work with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or relevant staff to ensure the organization maintains financial health, adheres to budgets, and meets its funding goals.
Fundraising Leadership: Take an active role in fundraising efforts by cultivating relationships with key donors, foundations, and government agencies. Lead or support major fundraising campaigns, grants, and other revenue-generating initiatives.
Partnership Development: Cultivate strategic partnerships with other health organizations, corporate partners, and philanthropic entities to advance the organization's mission and increase its impact.
Program Development and Impact: Ensure that health programs and services are evidence-based, effective, and aligned with the organization’s mission. Foster innovation and continuous improvement in program design and delivery.
** Community Engagement**: Work closely with local communities and service recipients to ensure that the organization’s programs are responsive to their needs and that beneficiaries’ voices are reflected in program design.
Volunteer Engagement: Support volunteer recruitment, training, and retention efforts. Ensure volunteers are effectively integrated into the organization’s programs and operations.
Internal Culture: Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and ethical behavior throughout the organization. Ensure that the mission and values of the organization are embodied by the entire staff.
Strategic Growth: Lead the organization in scaling up its impact through new initiatives, program expansion, or geographic outreach. Continuously explore innovative ways to enhance the organization’s effectiveness in addressing public health issues.
Sustainability Planning: Develop and implement strategies for ensuring the organization’s long-term financial sustainability. This includes diversifying revenue streams, creating reserves, and building a strong financial foundation for future growth.
Advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Ensure the organization’s programs, practices, and policies reflect principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in serving marginalized or underserved populations.
Public Awareness: Raise awareness of the organization’s mission, programs, and services through media appearances, public speaking engagements, and community outreach. Engage with the media to highlight the organization’s impact and key initiatives.
Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners, to update them on organizational progress, health initiatives, and opportunities for involvement
