Zen Tea Lounge is seeking a skilled Volunteer Team Leader who can make our vision for social change a reality. Our mission is to empower those affected by DV and create lasting independence.

ABOUT ZEN TEA LOUNGE: We are a charity who run a restaurant employing women affected by domestic violence, abuse and isolation. Our mission is to not only to provide great food but also to combat domestic violence by empowering affected women to stay financially and emotionally free from abuse. We are a volunteer-based organisation, relying on our amazing volunteers as a backbone for our mission and goals.

ABOUT THE ROLE The Volunteer Team Leader will positively contribute to our brand and culture whilst ensuring the ongoing growth of the Zen Tea Lounge’s volunteer team. This role will often be a remote one, involving managing and engaging a team of over 30 volunteers, with diverse commitment and skill levels. It will also include;

  • Recruitment and onboarding of volunteers including inductions, training, and development plans for Zen's volunteers.
  • Planning, implementation, review and continuous improvement of all-volunteer policies, systems, and processes.
  • Develop and oversee training and development, reward & recognition and regular performance feedback/appraisals of volunteers
  • Management of data and reporting relevant to volunteers (volunteer waiver, agreements, details etc).
  • Lead by example to embed a positive, outcomes focused culture within Zen volunteers
  • Develop employment and education pathways to create meaningful opportunities for Zen volunteers

ABOUT YOU

  • You share Zen Tea Lounge's mission to end domestic violence in Australia
  • Motivated self-starter who is highly organised.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, a "people person" in all sense of the word.
  • Experience in a similar role managing a team or a group of volunteers, and in using systems to coordinate and roster a volunteer, casual or seasonal workforce (preferred).
  • Experience using Zoom to host meetings or willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the value of volunteering in relation to personal growth, quality service delivery and supporting the community.
  • Driven & autonomous - can work effectively in a dispersed team and take the role and make it happen!

We ask volunteers to be able to commit to 5-15 hours of their time every week, and be able to attend our cafe at Smithfield on either Monday and/or Tuesday.

In return you'll get to work for a great cause, expand your skills and experience, receive a great reference and our endless gratitude.
