Victims & Witnesses of Crime Court Support

The role of the RC is to:

Referral Coordinators work closely with referral agencies (mainly the Witness Assistance Service of the NSW Department of Public Prosecutions) and with trained volunteer Court Support officers (CSOs). The main tasks are to:

  • Receive referrals of clients who need support in a court matter

  • Email potentially available CSOs to confirm their availability to support the relevant matter

  • Liaise with referral agencies in a timely manner to notify them of the details of the allocated CSO

  • Respond flexibly to changes in the timing of referred cases

  • Ensure that the CSO is appropriately briefed with the details of the case

  • Maintain records of referrals and court attendance.
