Victims & Witnesses of Crime Court Support

The main task for the volunteers will be:

  • To develop a yearly roster based on the availability of the CSOs (Court Support Officers)

  • Communicate by email with the relevant agencies and with the CSOs

  • Allocate CSOs to the client(s) that has been referred

  • On receiving email referrals use VWCCS’ template to provide information to the relevant agencies and to CSOs so that there is a trail of information

  • Maintain a monthly planner that records each court attendance with details of referring agency, CSO, accused, victim / witness, charge, court location and duty of the CSO

The volunteers will need to:

  • Be available to respond to requests from the relevant agency in a timely manner

  • Be very flexible in order to deal with last minute requests, changes to starting dates of trials at short notice, adjournments etc

• Have the ability to work at varying times and for varying amounts of time. Some days there could be no referrals other days there could be a number to coordinate and on other occasions you may need to give some time to the coordination on a daily basis

  • Have the ability to use email and excel

  • Have good attention to detail

  • Excellent communication skills.

Compulsory attendance at VWCCS’ Induction and Training Program where the 2 volunteer Roster Referral Coordinators would also meet the relevant VWCCS volunteers involved and certain referral agencies, as well as an orientation in the Downing Centre.
