Cambodian Kids Can (CKC), a registered charity with DGR status formed in 2005, aim is to provide at risk girls the chance to change their futures and lift themselves, their families and their communities out of poverty. The charity has a three level approach to support the girls and their wider community through each stage of the learning journey.

  1. Mekhala House is a supportive boarding home providing up to forty at risk young girls with access to formal education and comprehensive personal development programs, enabling them to change their futures.

  2. Mekhala Learning Centre encourages a culture of learning in the local community through offering a structured program of job skills training, free internet access and a library, enhancing local employment prospects.

  3. Alumni from Mekhala House are sponsored through their tertiary or vocational education, ensuring they have the opportunity to break the cycle of disadvantage and become change-makers in their community.

We are seeking expressions of interest for the Chair of the Board volunteer role at Cambodian Kids Can. The role has ultimate accountability for the management of the Charity and is critical to assigning accountabilities to other members of the Board, volunteers and stakeholders. The Chair is responsible for the functioning and governance of the Board to ensure effective management and priorities are understood. This role also provides leadership and structure in the delivery of the agreed strategic direction.

The ideal candidate will have 1. Strong leadership  experience within a non for profit and prior volunteer Board experience would be highly regarded. 2. Background in monitoring performance against objectives and managing risks and issues is required. 3. Extensive experience in monitoring\, managing and communicating performance of a Charity. 4. Ability to continually develop and maintain strong relationships with key corporates and high-end donors. 5. Significant understanding of commercial and financial practices\, insurances/liabilities and related issues in running a Charity. 6. Ability to demonstrate a connection to the cause and passion to make a difference to the young women in Cambodia by donating a minimum of 3 hours a week to the charity and volunteering at events.
