Key Duties: Assisting older people to access their community through accompanying a group on an outing and/or centre-based activities. We have 3 social groups every week, you can volunteer 1,2 or 3 days-whatever suits your schedule.

  • You will come into the Centre and assist with the set-up of the room alongside the other volunteers.
  • When clients arrive, you will assist them off the bus and welcome them.
  • You may be involved in getting morning tea / and or lunch together for the group.
  • Chatting to clients and making them feel welcome and comfortable.
  • Supporting clients with any activities they may be doing – and joining in!
  • On Outings days, you will head out on the bus with the group and support clients as needed.
  • At the end of the day you will assist clients back on to the bus and help to pack up the room.

Skills and experience:

  • Have a friendly personality -Enjoy speaking to older people and hearing their stories.
  • Be a reliable team member
  • Follow directions
  • Speaking a language other than English is very favourably looked upon. If you speak any language other than English please get in touch!

Organisation: Canterbury City Community Centre is a locally based community Organisation which provides services in the Canterbury Bankstown Local Government area and across the Inner West in Sydney. We are situated in Lakemba NSW and people sometimes call us the 4cs … because of the 4 c’s in our name!

Volunteers must be 18 years or over for this role Hours: 8:30am-2:30pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
