The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme ( ACVVS) is an Australian Government initiative, connecting volunteer visitors with residents in Aged Care Facilities or those living in the community on Home Care packages that meet eligibility requirements. Some older people do not have regular visitors and would really benefit from regular contact with a volunteer visitor, who is matched to them based on similar interests and experiences. A volunteer visitor is someone who sets aside time, at least once a fortnight for an hour or more, spending time with an older person, adding value to their life by being a companion and a friend. Some things our volunteers and residents enjoy - chatting, walking, playing chess/board games, reading, doing a jigsaw puzzle or going on short outings. We see the friendships develop over time and appreciate the value that the volunteer visitor brings to the older person in Residential Care or in the community. If you would like to be part of a meaningful volunteer opportunity, please contact us for more information.
