Community Visitor
Volunteering Coffs Harbour
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme ( ACVVS) is a federally funded program which connects volunteer visitors with residents in Aged Care Facilities. A volunteer visitor is someone who sets aside time, at least once a fortnight, to visit and befriend a resident. Some residents in aged care facilities don't have regular contact with relatives or friends and are lonely. They could be isolated due to health and cultural reasons and would benefit from spending time with someone they can relate to, or who can speak with them in their first language. As a community visitor you add to the quality of life of a resident by being a companion, confidante and a friend. You can help the resident feel more involved within their community and within their residential care. Some things our volunteers and residents enjoy - chatting, walking, playing chess, reading, doing a jigsaw puzzle or going on short outings
