The Museum that Goes to Sea!

The Sydney Heritage Fleet is a world class, unique organisation dedicated to the preservation of maritime heritage and the skills to restore and operate one of the largest working heritage fleets in the world.

SHF receives several grants a year from private and public sources and would like to expand both the scope and the number of applications.

We are a small group of experienced grant writers reporting to the Fundraising Committee and would welcome some more people to help us.

Fundraising or grant-writing experience is welcome but not a requirement but a willingness to learn and a positive outlook is essential.

We need two to three people experienced in or willing to be trained in the following:

• Identifying projects that can be grant-funded
• Identifying suitable grant opportunities
• Writing on-line grant applications, particularly in SmartyGrants and GrantConnect
• Writing applications to private and public ancillary funds
• Providing assistance on progress, reporting, and acquitting grants

These are powerful skills that once learnt can be applied pretty much anywhere. It’s fun too!

Ideally a commitment of about a half day a week would be great; more if you can, less if you can’t. It’s up to you. Reporting through the grant-writing group to the Fundraising Committee, you will be involved with a dedicated and experienced group of people in a very worthwhile program that you can be proud of. We work from Wharf 7, Pyrmont and work from our homes.
