"Music in Me" Program Assistant

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer in an innovative and meaningful program, that caters for all levels of abilities? Are you passionate about music and helping young people with a disability achieve personal goals, in a stimulating and positive environment? Interchange IE's Music In Me is Melbourne’s first all inclusive, music specific program that caters for participants with special needs.
To continue delivering a quality service to our growing population of participants, we need your help in assisting us in our sessions.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Encourage and support participants to interact with one another and participate in Music In Me
- Promote independence of all participants
- Enhance participant safety by providing additional supervision
- Be supervised by Interchange IE staff to support participants at meal times
- Take guidance and direction from the Music In Me Team Leaders, the Volunteer and HR Coordinators and other Interchange IE staff
- Attend any relevant training to develop skills and understanding
Skills and Experience:
- Have an interest in volunteering with people with disabilities
- Have a positive non-judgmental attitude to people with disabilities
- Have an energetic and enthusiastic nature
- Be willing to work as part of a team
- Have a passion and interest in music
Training and Induction: Interested persons will be invited to an in-person interview at an Interchange IE office. If successful, applicants will be subject to a national police check, Disability Workers Exclusion Scheme (DWES) check as well as other mandatory checks.
Music in Me Volunteers need to complete an in-depth induction, which includes the completion of various online training modules as well attending an in-person induction session held during business hours, Monday to Friday.
We are looking for volunteers to assist for the following sessions:
- Wednesdays 12:30pm to 3:30pm
- Thursdays 9:30am to 12:30pm
- Fridays 9:30am to 2:30pm
- Saturdays 9:30am to 12:30pm and 1:00pm to 4:00pm
