NILs Volunteer Interviewer

This role requires a reliable and caring individual who approaches each interaction with integrity, honesty, and a genuine commitment to supporting our applicants. It is desirable that the successful applicant can commit to the role for a minimum of 6 months and approximately 3 hours of volunteer time per week to maximise the benefits of experience and training in the role, days & times to suit your availability.
The role includes: •NILs Interviews and Administration
- Conduct Interviews with NILs applicants and completing a budget in collaboration with applicants
- Demonstrate an understanding of the NILs parameters and required supporting information and documentation for a NILS application
- Discuss any limitations with the applicant (if any) and clearly explain the processes, procedures and timeframe.
Position Key Responsibilities
- Accurately enter application details into the specialised NILS software, MyNILSapp
- Prepare clear and concise summaries of the application interviews
- Identify and communicate any missing information to the applicant and NILsco-workers, including guidance on how required information can be obtained.
- Maintain client confidentiality at all times and adhere to Good Shepherd Australia & New Zealand and the Society’s policies and procedures.
Ideally you will have the following Knowledge & Experience or attributes :-
- Proficient computer skills, including in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Outlook and MS Word)
- An understanding of financial concepts is advantageous, but no required

- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
- Ability to build rapport with the program’s low-income applicants and service them with respect, empathy and
- Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate at different levels to meet the broad range of applicants
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Good time management, with an organised approach to your work
- Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently as required
- Able to follow instructions and to work collaboratively to achieve common goals
