This role requires a reliable and caring individual who approaches each interaction with integrity, honesty, and a genuine commitment to supporting our applicants. It is desirable that the successful applicant can commit to the role for a minimum of 6 months and approximately 3 hours of volunteer time per week to maximise the benefits of experience and training in the role, days & times to suit your availability.

The role includes: •NILs Interviews and Administration

  • Conduct Interviews with NILs applicants and completing a budget in collaboration with applicants
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the NILs parameters and required supporting information and documentation for a NILS application
  • Discuss any limitations with the applicant (if any) and clearly explain the processes, procedures and timeframe.

Position Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately enter application details into the specialised NILS software, MyNILSapp
  • Prepare clear and concise summaries of the application interviews
  • Identify and communicate any missing information to the applicant and NILsco-workers, including guidance on how required information can be obtained.
  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times and adhere to Good Shepherd Australia & New Zealand and the Society’s policies and procedures.

Ideally you will have the following Knowledge & Experience or attributes :-

  • Proficient computer skills, including in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Outlook and MS Word)
  • An understanding of financial concepts is advantageous, but no required

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Ability to build rapport with the program’s low-income applicants and service them with respect, empathy and
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate at different levels to meet the broad range of applicants
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good time management, with an organised approach to your work
  • Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently as required
  • Able to follow instructions and to work collaboratively to achieve common goals
