The program Australian Red Cross Emergency Services has been responding to emergencies and providing humanitarian assistance in Australia since 1914.  We are committed to strengthening and extending our emergency aid services to all Australians to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies. The Summer 2019-2020 season is expected to be an intense and busy season for Australian Red Cross Emergency Services. To ensure our volunteer-led service has the capacity, capability, resources, systems, processes and operations to support people and communities across Victoria this Summer we’re recruiting for a number of Divisional Operations Officers. Working across your division, you will be committed to providing psychological first aid, Register-Find-Reunite, and Food-&-Water programs to people during emergency events. This may be in a relief or evacuation centre, or visiting homes and other locations. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills through Red Cross Leadership and Personal Development training while building local relationships with community groups and organisations.

The opportunity This role is the ultimate opportunity to lead a geographic Division and make a significant contribution to the community with the key goal to save lives, build resilient communities and support people in disasters.  Over a three year term, the Divisional Operations Officer develops relationships with Emergency Services, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, Local Councils, and other relevant agencies.  With continued support from Red Cross Emergency Services staff, the Divisional Operations Officer provides guidance to their Leadership Team to ensure core capabilities are achieved while ensuring that the Red Cross is represented on the local Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee.
