Communications Officer for charity event
Hair AidEvery year we run the Hair Aid Global Cut-A-Thon, which is our favourite and annual fundraiser.
Hairdresser's from all over the world come together to participate.
We have a team of five people that help run this.
We are looking for a communications officer that can do the following.
Role: The Communications Officer will be responsible for creation of impactful communication content and supporting the optimisation of HairAid’s events through strategic reporting. The officer will access appropriate tools to develop and introduce communication strategies to successfully establish relationships with staff, volunteers and external stakeholders. The officer will liaise various stakeholders (such as hairdressers, sponsors, etc.,) by activating relevant communication strategies to reflect HairAid’s positive brand reputation. These duties will be carried out in close collaboration with the project manager and social media officer.
Essential Skills: ● Impactful organisational storytelling capability through a creative lens. ● Possess high-level communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. ● You will have strong verbal and written communications skills to generate creative and impactful communication strategies. ● You will have the ability to work in a team and collaborate with the project manager and social media officer to achieve agreed outcomes, prioritise tasks and resources. ● Your ability to demonstrate a compassionate and flexible approach to work and respond positively to a changing environment while exercising independence, initiative and judgement will be key to your success in this role. ● Nice to have: prior experience of working in a not-for-profit or tertiary qualifications in Marketing and Communications, Journalism or Public Relations. ● Favourable skills: Canva, Microsoft Office suite, Trello, etc.
Duties: ● Developing and implementing communication strategies. Drafting, editing, proofreading and creating standardised communication templates for communications and media materials across platforms such as Microsoft Office, Canva and Trello. ● Preparing communication content for outreach emails, website and social media platforms in close collaboration with the social media officer. ● Manage and facilitate project communications (via email) and liaise with relevant stakeholders to coordinate their input to the project ● Coordinate the implementation of project plans and initiatives ● Provide executive support to project committee and stakeholder meetings. Report on progress and performance against project schedules and performance indicators. ● The role requires oversight and evaluation of the organisation’s events, processes, objectives, implementation, project delivery and stakeholder meetings by way of strategic reporting.
It will take around 2 to 4 hours every week for 12 weeks to run this campaign. You'll be working with other volunteers, and we have lots of fun while we do this.
