Community Visitor Scheme Volunteer Visitor
Canterbury City Commmunity Centre (4C's)Social isolation and loneliness affect an increasingly large proportion of Australia’s elderly population. This can negatively impact on mental and physical health. The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a government funded program aiming to alleviate social isolation within our communities by pairing lonely people with volunteers who share a common interest and/or cultural background. Volunteers get the opportunity to change someone’s life simply by spending some quality time together doing something engaging. Like playing cards, watching a film, reminiscing, sharing a meal, reading, etc. Multicultural Care will provide all the training and support our volunteers might need. All we ask is you complete a free National Police Check and commit to at least 1 visit per week. Visits will usually occur in an aged care setting, or in the clients own home, in Inner West, South West, and/or South East Sydney. If you, or someone you know, is looking to give back to the community in a fun and social way, get in touch!
