Are you looking to make a positive difference in our community? Look no further!   Multicultural Communities Council of SA (MCCSA) is welcoming enthusiastic and passionate volunteers from diverse cultural backgrounds to join our Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) program.   You can support an older person with the gift of friendship and companionship helping them to reduce their loneliness and social isolation. It is a perfect volunteering opportunity for people working, studying, or retired as it is flexible rewarding and yet so important!   The role requires volunteers to make a minimum requirement of 20 visits per year to their matched care recipient. These occur for approximately an hour a fortnight and can be anything the volunteer and the older person feel like doing such as: •sharing stories over a cup of tea •working on a joint hobby •taking a walk.   As an ACVVS volunteer you’re not required to provide any personal care, advocate for the older person, assist them with meals, feeding or become involved in any family or financial matters.   For applicants aged 55 and over, this volunteer job is recognised by Centrelink as contributing to your work requirement.   The role requires the following attributes: patience, empathy, excellent communication skills including listening, kindness, respect, reliability, flexibility, a non-judgemental attitude and the ability to work within boundaries, policies and procedures. It is important that the potential volunteer enjoys the company of older people.   A National Police Certificate is required (we can help you obtain one - it's free).

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
