Volunteer Opportunity: Unique Solutions Team Member Join Freedom Solutions Australia’s Unique Solutions (US) team of volunteers dedicated to creating or modifying aids and equipment for individuals with disabilities or the elderly who require specialised solutions. Our mission is to provide assistance when commercial options are unavailable, ensuring everyone has access to the support they need. There are three distinct stages in the US process, each offering unique volunteering opportunities. You can offer your time for one stage, or across multiple if your skills and the project align:
Assessor Volunteer
-
As an Assessor Volunteer, you’ll attend our clients homes and meet with our clients and their treating therapists to assess their equipment based needs
-
Your role involves taking initial notes, photographs, and measurements of equipment and potential solutions
-
You will investigate the situation and details, discuss issues with the client/therapist and even propose any ideas that may arise before or during the visit
-
No engineering background or technical expertise is required; we’re seeking good communications with a knack for problem-solving
-
After completing the initial assessment, you’ll pass the information to our Project Managers to process to the Design and Build phase. Design and/or Build Volunteer
-
Drawing from the information provided by the Assessor Volunteer, the Design Volunteer will craft equipment-based solutions.
-
In some cases, Design Volunteers may also construct or modify the equipment.
-
If necessary, designs will be passed to our Project Coordinator to find a Build Volunteer with the requisite skills or equipment.
-
Occasionally, a volunteer may oversee all three phases of a project, from assessment through to design to construction. Examples of projects include:
-
Wheelchair modifications
-
Mobility aid adaptations
-
Accessibility Solutions
-
Assistive devices
-
Sports and recreation adaptations
-
Personal care and daily living aids
-
