Community Visitors Scheme Volunteer - residents with Dementia
Better Health NetworkWe have a number of residents living with dementia throughout the Kingston/Bayside region who would benefit greatly from a one-on-one visitor. The Community Visitors Scheme seeks volunteers to visit residents in Aged Care Facilities who are living with dementia, to bring cheerful and uplifting contact on a regular basis.
Visits can be spent reading, listening to music, taking the resident for walks around the facility or simply just holding the residents hand and sitting with them - this can have a huge impact to a person feeling anxious and confused.
We ask that volunteers commit to visiting for about an hour once a fortnight, as a minimum (but you can visit more often if you like).
We also ask that potential volunteers consider if whether they can make this fortnightly commitment for a minimum of one year.
