StreetWork Advocacy Volunteers needed urgently

StreetWork
Logo for StreetWork

StreetWork offers a free advocacy service for young people aged up to 18 years old who are not able to have a parent/carer or other responsible adult present at a police interview. Contact with the police may be evident of other risky life choices, being present in a time of need gives StreetWork an opportunity to offer support and engage with ‘at risk’ young people.

Advocacy Volunteers respond to after-hours phone calls received from Police where a ‘responsible adult’ is required to support an young person in custody. StreetWork currently offers this service to young people who have been taken to Manly, Chatswood, Dee Why or North Sydney Police stations.(see note on additional requirements) Advocacy Volunteers are placed on a monthly roster depending on availability and calls are received on a central number that is forwarded to the volunteer who is rostered ‘on-duty’.

Advocacy Volunteers must attend training and are required to complete a Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to commencing as an Advocacy Volunteer/Advocate.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
