The Transitions Film Festival is a not-for-profit visionary impact festival dedicated to showcasing the social, technological, environmental and economic innovations that are redefining what it means to be human. Transitions is the only festival in Australia, and one of the leading festivals internationally, that explicitly focuses on the great transformations that are taking place across the planet and the solutions to our grand challenges.

We are looking for a tech and media savvy individual with an established list of national media contacts or a willingness to develop one. You will have a passion and drive to increase public awareness for sustainability, social justice, technological innovation and the transition to a better world, and enjoy the prospect of supporting a great cause and gaining meaningful work experience.

The next Transitions Film Festival takes virtually in February 2021

Tasks may include:

• Building and maintaining the national media database • Generate media coverage: editorial pitches, promo material • Promotion of EPK (created by Festival Director) to media outlets • Creation of additional Media Releases as required • Seeking promotional opportunities for the festival • Helping the operations team to coordinate the needs of internal and external stakeholders for best media coverage possible in mainstream, trade and grassroots communication outlets • Monitoring and creating a festival publicity report • Continually expanding and building upon digital, blogger, traditional, influencer and social media networks to further leverage content opportunities • Maintaining and building influencer and media databases

YOUR SKILLS, TALENTS AND PERSONALITY

Essential:

• Passion for sustainability and building a better future • Experience working in / studying, media, marketing or public relations, particularly in a festival or not-for-profit environment • Dependable, reliable and able to meet the time commitment • Excellent writing and communication skills • Ability to work well both in a team and autonomously • Proficient in the use of google docs, spreadsheets and other office applications

Highly Regarded:

• Degree (complete or continuing) in PR, marketing, media or communications • Experience in a similar role • Experience booking and managing talent interviews • Previous experience delivering high-performance media relations strategies and campaigns across national and state / territory regions • Established network of media connections and outlets • The ability to work autonomously, unsupervised, and to tight timelines • Interest in learning and strong desire to increase professional skills through self learning and formal development
