Environmental Volunteers for Reserves

City of Busselton
Logo for City of Busselton

Is spending more time outside your passion Do you love living in the South West and the beautiful bushland we have? Do you have a passion for the environment and want to leave a positive legacy for future generations.

The City of Busselton are looking for a team of volunteers to help care for City managed reserves or join an existing Friends of Reserves group. With 15 active Friends of Reserve groups across the district, chances are that there is one nearby to join.

Volunteers will learn how to identify native flora and weeds, spot native animals and how to care for native ecosystems. There is the opportunity to care for multiple reserves, reserves close to where you live or key conservation priorities, such as Ambergate and Carbanup Reserves. These two reserves support a multitude of endangered flora and fauna and represent snapshots into the Busselton district prior to clearing.

Volunteers will be assisted by City Environmental Officers and tasks could include planting, weeding, grant applications, maintaining paths and brushing. A general level of fitness is required but vests (and some tools) will be provided by the City. You’ll have to bring along your own personal gear that you don’t really want to share, such as long pants, enclosed shoes, gloves and hats.

If you would just like to spend some time out in the bush or if there is a Friends of Reserve Group in your neighbourhood, please contact the Busselton Dunsborough Volunteer Centre.
