Life in Community (LinC) Volunteer
Wellways Australia Ltd
Our Wellways LinC ACT Program is a social connection, inclusion and engagement program to support people with mental health challenges, or their close family members, find a place of their own design within their local community.
The role of the volunteer will be to facilitate the development of social connections and encourage the support of other community members to be inclusive. It is through developing these social connections and linkages that participants or family members can independently be active in community life.
Volunteers will support participants or family members to link in with a range of social and community networks e.g. find a community class or social group that match their interests, support them as they gain confidence catching public transport to give them access to more of Canberra, try out different sporting groups to find their passion. Activities are either low-cost or free and can be weekdays or weekends - including evenings - whatever suits you and the participant.
Volunteers will be matched for a 6-month term with the program aiming to support the participant to create for themselves a sustainable and enjoyable connection to their community.
Training will be held in our office in Braddon, refreshments provided.
