The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of the City of Boroondara Community Grants Program.

We are looking for patient, friendly people to help groups from diverse backgrounds to apply for grants from the City of Boroondara.

Each year, the City of Boroondara offers Community Strengthening Grants to help local organisations undertake projects and activities which will benefit the community. The City of Boroondara is exploring how to provide additional assistance to groups who may find aspects of the application process challenging.

This activity will match volunteers with local organisations representing people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities, and people who have requested assistance to complete their applications. Volunteers will meet with the organisation over a period of several weeks - to understand the proposed project or activity and to help the group complete the online application.

Volunteers will be engaged by the City of Boroondara, and will be provided with training and support. While volunteers will work directly with local organisations, the organisation will be responsible for submitting the application.

Key Tasks

• Meeting with the matched organisation to understand the proposed project
• Assistance with documenting the proposal
• Assistance with completing the online application form

Requirements and skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Patience and flexibility
• Comfortable with using computers, including online forms
• Some knowledge of community development principles
• Some experience interacting with people who are from different cultural or linguistic background would be desirable but not essential
