Celebrating 50 Years since the Society was established. In 2023 we were awarded - SILVER in t SA Tourism Award for TOURIST ATTRACTION Our 100% volunteer organisation operates and maintains this heritage tourist railway, running steam & diesel locomotives on part of the old Ghan line between Quorn & Port Augusta, SA. Our heritage tourist railway and rolling stock is a living and working museum. We have a large collection of historic locomotives, goods and passenger vehicles, already restored or which are being returned to original and authentic working order. Running a railway requires people from all walks of life, people willing to learn new skills or share their knowledge and experience. We are family friendly, welcome enthusiastic and motivated people who can volunteer any of their time and we are flexible with your availability.
