Synapse—Australia’s Brain Injury Organisation, provides a range of services nationally, which includes amongst other things: • Information and referral – We respond to enquiries on all issues relating to Brain Disorders which may include the provision of appropriate resources and/or linking the individuals to services. • Information, Linkages and Capacity Building - Developing and implementing information, linkages and capacity building models and activities. • Training - Synapse delivers customised training programs on topics relating to Brain Disorders, including Brain Injury and the trauma associated with it. • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) services - Almost 1000 people contacted Synapse seeking information and services regarding NDIS planning and coordination. • Advocacy - is about justice and the fundamental human needs, rights and interests of everyone, but particularly people with a disability. It can involve getting someone to speak on your behalf, or self-advocacy where individuals are supported speak for themselves. • Housing and Support - The accommodation options we provide include Transitional Accommodation, 24/7 Supported Housing, Independent Living and Community Access Options • Targeted research activities – The Research team conduct targeted projects that contribute to the development of evidence-based policies and services in the government and community sectors.
