Anzac Memorial

Logo for Anzac Memorial

The Anzac Memorial Building, located in Hyde Park South, is NSW’s principal war memorial. It is supported by the Office for Veterans’ Affairs in the Department of Justice. It was dedicated in 1934, originally commemorating the courage, endurance and sacrifice of Australians who served in World War One. It was rededicated in 1984 to honour all Australians who have served in wars and peacekeeping missions. In 2014 the NSW Government announced funding support for a major new initiative for education and interpretation facilities and a water cascade to be built at the Memorial as the key legacy project for the Centenary of Anzac period. The Centenary Extension was completed late last year and the Memorial reopened in November 2018. The Memorial is open every day except Christmas Day and Good Friday between 9am and 5pm.
