We are looking for a Learner Driver Mentor , flexible hours, South Eastern suburbs

The L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program originated from the new graduated licensing System which requires that all learner drivers aged less than 21 years must achieve a minimum of 120 hours of driving practice. This program is aimed at facilitating these marginalized and disadvantaged young people in obtaining their probationary licence by providing the young person with free of charge professional lessons. On completion of these lessons we match them with a volunteer mentor who is trained and equip to supervise their 120 hours of practice.

KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE

  • Provide mentoring support to young people within the L2P Mentoring program.
  • Supervise young people to drive.
  • Promote and increase a young person’s sense of worth and ability in obtaining their probationary licence.
  • Support young people in their transition to independent driving.

OUTLINE OF VOLUNTEER'S RESPONSIBILITIES -Develop collaborative working relationships with young people and L2P Mentoring staff. -Provide driving supervision and support to young people. -Participate in core training program and any other training deemed appropriate by the L2P Project Officer. -Participate in professional supervision as deemed appropriate by the L2P Project Officer. -Participate in program activities with mentee of the Youth Mentoring Service where practical. -Keep and maintain an accurate log book of the young persons driving progressions and Vehicle Log. -Other duties, as may be required

OUTLINE OF VOLUNTEER'S SKILLS AND EXPECTATIONS -Understanding and sympathy with the mission and ethos of Jesuit Social Services -A commitment and ability to work effectively with disadvantaged young people, 16-21 years, their families and the community. -Preparedness to make a 12-month commitment to the L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program.

  • Successful Working with Children Check, Police check and VicRoads Driving History Check
  • Successful Interview conduced by Jesuit Social Services

REPORTING Keep and maintain accurate log of the young person's driving progressions and car log book
