What you need to bring - water bottle, sunscreen, sleeping bag
The Beach Scrub Project aims to promote conservation of beach scrub semi-evergreen vine thickets, an endangered ecosystem that’s crucial for reducing erosion and preserving strong ecological diversity.
Learn on-ground environmental skills and gain experience in conservation work by joining Conservation Volunteers on one of our upcoming camping trips. We will be working to protect endangered beach scrub vegetation by controlling weeds and removing marine debris from sites.
This is a great opportunity to experience some beautiful natural places as we will be camping in beautiful areas near Bowen and Cape Upstart. There will be opportunities for some sight-seeing after work hours and wildlife spotting.
We urgently require volunteers for the following camping trips:
- 20 to 22 May at Wunjunga
- 27 to 31 May at Bowen and Cape Upstart
- 3 to 7 June at Bowen
- 18 to 21 June at Wunjunga
- 24 to 28 June at Bowen and Cape Upstart
You can join for one or more camping trips. Transport to and from Townsville, accommodation (camping) and food are provided. Volunteers need to be enthusiastic to work outdoors, have a high level of fitness and be keen learners.
