K9 SAR Inc. is a not-for-profit volunteer organization that provides trained personnel and dogs to emergency service and police agencies to assist in finding lost or missing individuals. The team specializes in search operations in wilderness, wooded, semi-urban and urban settings.

The Operational classification requires a commitment towards becoming an accomplished dog trainer and handler, as well as mastering search skills, becoming an adept wilderness navigator and acquiring the required first aid skills. An operational search and rescue volunteer must be capable of walking long distances in dense underbrush and steep terrain while carrying a fully loaded pack.

Your dog is optimally aged between 6 months & 2 years and motivated by a reward system (food or toy). The dog should be appropriately vaccinated, with a good health record, fit and able to handle endurance.

K9 SAR Inc. has established rigid standards for dog/handler teams and member organizations to assure that member teams develop and maintain the necessary qualifications for K9 search and rescue work.

All K9 SAR Inc. personnel are volunteers and are not paid for their work, training or support of their dogs.
