If you want to sail on school trips you need to obtain a working with children check. We fund this.
An annual membership fee is required to cover insurance, The full amount being $50 per year and concession is available
Please Note: As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the level of coverage for volunteers due to various restrictions to ensure they are covered for the roles they will be undertaking.

This includes Steering Operation of the sails Lookout and seamanship.
You do not learn these thing straight away. The first training is an induction day where we train you to safely work on the ship.
Then you volunteer to sail working your way through a skills book. You start off as a Trainee, then move up the ranks for Deckhand Senior Deckhand Bosun
Our current 5 Captains have all worked their way up to Bosun and then had assisted study to get their Captains ticket.
