By transporting elderly people in a mini bus from home to respite centre and return home in the afternoons, you will be helping isolated seniors stay socially, physically and mentally active. Occasionally there will be requirements to drive the bus for morning or day outings where you will have a chance to get out for a coffee, or see some of SEQ's more enjoyable and picturesque locations, along with the clients.

Shifts are available on Thursdays and/or Fridays 8am - 3:30pm.

You will be driving a 12 or 21 seat bus to collect clients from their homes and bring them safely to the respite centre to enjoy the day's activities. The driver is responsible for the safety of the clients and must be experienced in driving a small bus or large vehicle. We are looking for friendly drivers who are comfortable engaging with elderly people and people with a disability, as some clients may be physically restricted.

You won't be alone - the driver will have an offsider to assist you in the care of the clients and assisting them safely on and off the bus. If the client is physically restricted a hydraulic hoist will be used. Having a knowledge of the Logan area will be of benefit, however not necessary as a GPS is installed in vehicle.

You will also receive training in using the hoist and other professional development opportunities to help you in your role.
