Nature Care at Trillion Trees is an all-year-around activity that takes into account the planting and then the aftercare/maintenance of sites to ensure success. This position requires the person to have a good level of fitness and be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. The activities are as follows: Plantings • Land preparation – using augers • Planting seedlings during the winter month using planting equipment provided. • Ensuring the plant is planted by the dripper if it is an irrigated site. • Watering in the plants if required (on the day). • Staking and placing guards around each seedling. • Mulching. Maintenance • Weed management, including hand weeding using mattocks, etC. • Using small machinery such as wiper snippers and brush-cutters. • Maintaining, cleaning and storing equipment after use at designated location. • General maintenance and servicing of tools and equipment. Watering • Loading water tank (IBC) onto the ute. • Filling the water storage tank and ensuring all the pipes are present and watering cans. • Using watering cans to transport water to seedlings from the water tank. • At Whiteman Park Trillion Trees Challenge site checking the irrigation including cleaning the water filters at the pump and flushing the line.
