The reception desk is the first point of contact with customers and we have an opportunity for a volunteer who enjoys interacting with people and making them feel welcome at North Queensland's premier Maritime Museum.

The museum is self-funded and relies on admission revenues, which makes our popular Sunday opening time critical for our long term sustainability. This position would suit a mature minded volunteer with lots of life experience.

As receptionist, you will have the opportunity to meet many people who also share their interesting stories.

Tasks include:

• Basic cleaning 9am - 10am before museum opens
• Staff reception desk during opening times
• Collect admission fees
• Sell merchandise
• Answer phone
• Open and close museum

Support and training will be provided.

The applicant will have the opportunity to meet with other museum volunteers when attending staff meetings, BBQ's and occasionally working on a day other than a Sunday.
