The next Reef Volunteer Open Night/ Information Session will be held at Reef HQ Aquarium on the Wednesday 13 March 2019, at 7.00pm, to explain the program and to allow interested persons to lodge an application for the 2019 intake. There is no need to register for the Open Night, people can just show up on the evening.
Volunteers are asked to make a commitment to Reef HQ Aquarium an average 4 hours per fortnight for a minimum period of 12 months.
In 2019, there are only a limited number of volunteer positions available. All available positions this year are within the interpretation program (talking to the public about the Great Barrier Reef and about the marine life on display within the Aquarium). Most volunteer positions are on weekends, however there are a few available spots on weekdays.
There are no positions available in the administration, education, exhibits or curatorial sections. Unfortunately there are also no opportunities to volunteer in the turtle hospital or diving in our tanks.
