Individual Support - Caring Neighbourhood Program - City of Victor Harbor
Caring Neighbourhood Program - City of Victor HarborWould you like to contribute to the well-being of older persons in the community? Just a few hours each week or fortnight can make a wonderful difference to an elderly resident feeling isolated and alone.
Volunteers are matched with a person and help to facilitate the aims of the visit which (where possible) are led by the person to enable well-being outcomes.
Visiting a resident in their home for things like a chat and a cuppa or taking them on a short outing to the shops or library provides valuable support and friendship.
Key Tasks include: • Set norms including clear boundaries and aims of visit together with the individual in terms of available time and types of activities – based on the goals of the individual. CNP staff will assist. • Organise a time for a visit to the individuals home or a mutually agreed location • Phone person to confirm time to visit • Support the individual with an activity in the community, this may be pre-arranged with CNP staff • Spend meaningful time together to meet the goals of the visit • Maintain professional boundaries • Reporting time, progress and any issues to CNP staff • Inform staff immediately if they don’t respond to the door on for a pre-arranged visit.
Volunteers are covered by the City of Victor Harbor Volunteer Policy.
