The South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS) is a volunteer based fire and emergency service dedicated to protecting life, property and the environmental assets in regional and semi metropolitan South Australia. The CFS is focussed on supporting its personnel and continuously improving.

There are many roles that a volunteer can participate in, regardless of age, gender or ability. This includes both operational and non-operational/support activities.

Under supervision, volunteer firefighters are required to respond to emergency incidents to support the brigade’s operational capabilities, maintain close communication with senior firefighters at an incident and follow reasonable directions from those in supervisory roles in the CFS.

Support activities can include: ~ communications and logistics during operational incidents in support of fire-fighters on the ground ~ assisting in the overall management of the station through administration and fundraising.

Volunteers are required to participate in ongoing training and development and follow direction to achieve the goals of the brigade.

As a volunteer you will demonstrate commitment to the principles of the CFS code of conduct.

Please note - Those wishing to apply for an Operational role as a firefighter are advised that part of being an Emergency Services volunteer involves being able to respond quickly so you will need to live in fairly close proximity to their station.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
