Dementia is the condition that will have the greatest social and economic impact on our time. In NSW alone, it is estimated nearly 74,000 people are currently living with dementia; our services have never been higher in demand. For this reason, Memory Walk & Jog is not only a vital fundraising drive for Dementia Australia, it is also an opportunity to raise community awareness, promote the importance of healthy lifestyle and encourage the community to come together in a fun and active way to make a difference for people impacted by dementia.

This year's Hunter Valley Memory Walk & Jog event will be held at Speers Point Park, Speers Point, NSW on Sunday 31st March. They need volunteers on the day from 6:00am to midday in a variety of different roles. You are encouraged to volunteer for the event, and invite your family, friends, and colleagues to join you. Volunteers 17+ are required.

No special skills, experience, or training is required - just your presence and your enthusiasm. Some tasks may include directing and encouraging participants around the course, assisting with registration, selling merchandise and handing out fundraising packs so there is a job to suit everyone!

Benefits: - You will receive a volunteer certificate after the event season for your tremendous contribution! Some of last year’s volunteers have described their experience as “extremely enjoyable” and said their “spirits were lifted by being in the presence of like-minded people” whilst knowing that they were helping to increase public awareness of dementia.

Volunteering NSW’s Volunteer Referral Service assists individuals to find volunteer opportunities that match your interests, skills, location and time available to volunteer.

Be sure to provide a phone number on your Expression of Interest, so we can contact you without delay.

If this your first time volunteering, or your first time volunteering in Australia, you may wish to attend Volunteering NSW’s Bridge to Volunteering information seminar held every Friday and learn more about volunteering, how to choose the right volunteer job, the benefits of volunteering and your rights and responsibilities as a volunteer. Details on how to register for this seminar will be included on the email you receive when you Express Interest in this role.
