Peer Educator - Still Gardening Program

Still Gardening Program (City of Hobart)
Logo for Still Gardening Program (City of Hobart)

Still Gardening Peer Educators talk to groups of older people in the community about the value of gardening, and different ways to garden as we all grow older.

Audiences range in size from 5 to 80 people.

We encourage and help you to customise talks with your own stories, photos and props, as well as a choice of laptop/projector or off-the-cuff presentation.

Our talks range from 20 minutes to 1 hour long. Topics this year are:

• Gardening - pathway to wellness and independence, about the health benefits of gardening, ways to make gardening easier, as well as useful tools

• No Dig Gardening and Veggies in Pots, about how you can try easy and different ways to garden which don’t need digging. You can use small spaces, poor soil, even courtyards and balconies

• Waterwise Gardening, about cutting down on the time, money and effort you spend watering your garden

• Tasmanian Native Plants, about local plants that will thrive in our climate and soils with less care from you

• Wallabies, about how this part of the wildlife works and some ideas for helping your garden to survive them.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
