Volunteering Roles at the Aviation Heritage Museum include

Restoration - Some restoration work is carried out at the Aviation Heritage Museum’s storage facility in Willetton. Basic aviation engineering knowledge and experience is required for more details work on the aircraft, with general cleaning tasks also available.

Museum Guides - Guides perform an important public-facing ambassador role for the museum, showcasing the artefacts through guided tours, answering questions and highlighting the important work of others. Interpersonal skills and comfort working with large groups is essential. Aviation knowledge and passion is also an important attribute for this role.

Simulators -The Museum’s simulators are a major feature and require a team of dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers to enhance this visitor experience. Essential skills required for working with the simulators includes high level expertise in practical software application, electronics and simulator build experiences.

Cleaning - Another important job at the Museum is general cleaning, these roles include vacuuming, emptying bins and cleaning bathrooms, in order to present the Museum in the best possible condition to all visitors.

Maintenance - Maintenance is essential at the Aviation Heritage Museum, across a number of areas. We invite any handy-men or women with a reasonably high level of DIY skills to join our team.

Retail - The retails shop is a popular area of the Museum, stocking a range of books, merchandise, gifts and toys. Volunteers are required to assist with customer service and sales. Skills in computer operation and cash handling are desirable.

Modelling - Do you possess a passion and skill for building models? Why not share this expertise and knowledge with the Aviation Heritage Museum and join the modelling team.

Display Creation - Creativity is a must for our display team, along with a passion for and knowledge of aviation. This role involves the assembly and movement of displays.

Photo Library - Assisting with documentation and the Museum’s photo library calls for volunteers with computer skills, specifically in digital scanning, along with aviation knowledge and passion.

Library - Roles within the library include administrative and research tasks, relying upon basic computer and internet skills and some aviation knowledge.

Accessioning - Accessioning is a key role at any Museum, with the Aviation Heritage Museum being no exception. Share your administrative, computer and document control skills by becoming a member of our team.
